about

Oṃ muni muni mahāmuni śākyamuni svāhā

The Shakyamuni Mantra with 75 people at the Brighton Fringe Beauty of Mantra evening at the Brighton Buddhist Centre 16/5/15. Offerings were made during the mantra before a beautiful candlelit shrine.

The tune and harmonies are from Jan Garbarek's, Molde Canticle, from the album, I Took Up The Runes (ECM). I set the Shakyamuni mantra to the music/adapted it for voice. I'm indebted to Jan Garbarek for the inspiration.

The (quite a bit faster!) parts for the mantra can be found here mahasukha.bandcamp.com/track/shakyamuni-mantra-3 which are taken from my own (quite a bit faster!) version which can be found here on my album of mantras, Longing mahasukha.bandcamp.com/album/longing

about

Mahasukha Brighton, UK

"Today like every other day we wake up empty and frightened.
Don't open the door to the study and begin reading. Take down a musical instrument.
Let the beauty we love be what we do. There are hundreds of ways to kneel and kiss the ground." Rumi
